Son’s mobile phone company in Japan will go on sale a robot which can interpret human emotions, recognize expression and tone in February next year. It is expected to cost about 198000 yen ($1900).
The machine named Pepper, which is 121-cm-tall, 28-kg, has no hair and legs but has gently gesticulating hands, and two large doll-like eyes and a flat-panel display on its chest. It has a lot of sensors, two cameras and four microphones. It also has Wi-Fi and Ethernet networking capabilities.
However, in the conference on Thursday and Friday,it attracted a lot of journalists and the masses, and shows the charm and disadvantages of it. It can sing and gesturing, still can talk to people. But it also has some disadvantages:the speech recognition need a period of time to work, and sometimes can not speak properly. In the future, the intelligent machines will be great. It can take care of the old man, but robots might also play a role in reducing feelings of loneliness.
