My major is English translation and I really love Chinese and Western literature, Working as a translator makes me read more books and introduce more foreign literary works to our Chinese people and I think it is really meaningful. 3) Do you like your job?

Yes, I really like my job. I am an English lover, and I enjoy reading Chinese and western literary works, which makes me read many books and help me broaden my horizon. Moreover,English translation is my major, and I think it is a happy thing to do a job directly related to my major. So I really like my job. No, I do not like my job. Although I like English very much, as an English translator, I have to sit in front of the computer for more than eight hours everyday. In this case, I do not have too much spare time to exercise or hang out with my friends. I really fell tired about that. Moreover, I even have to stay up late when there is an urgent translation task. So, I do not like my job.

4) Is it very interesting?Yes, it is.I can know more about different writing styles of writers from western countries while translating. I think it is an interesting thing to analyze the themes as well as the traits of characters in the literary works. So I think this job is very interesting to me.

No, I do not think it is very interesting. Everyday, I have to sit in front of the computer and tap the keyboard for more than ten hours. It is not very good for my eyes and health since I do not have time to do exercise. To be honest, it is really boring for me.

5) (Possibly) Do you miss being a student?Yes, I do. When I was a student, I was really free. I could arrange my schedule by myself and I did not have to face the pressure in work and life. I could hang out with my friends and read my favorite books whenever I want. So, I really miss being a student. No, I don’t. When I was a student, I had to ask my parents for money to buy the things I want. Since I was already an adult, it was really embarrassing. Actually, as a student majoring in English translation, those subjects were my foundation courses, which would provide me with basic theoretical knowledge. So, when doing the translation, the knowledge I have learned from those courses can help me a lot.

3) Do you like your subjects?(Why?/Why not?)

Yes, I do. I like those subjects very much. I am interested in English translation. The knowledge I have learned from these courses will help me a lot in my future career. For example, the theories I learned in the English Translation Theory class are beneficial to me when translating the literary works. So, I like my subjects very much. No, I do not like my subjects. I find the knowledge I have learned from those subjects is too theoretical while the translation is a very practical course. So, I do not think the knowledge I have learned from these courses will help me a lot in the future. That is why I do not like my subjects. 4) Is it very interesting?

Yes, it is sincethe teachers are vey humorous. I used to think that the theoretical subjects would be useless and boring. However, the teachers are very excellent, they use the concise and vivid language and words to explain the boring and difficult theories, making me more and more interested in those subjects. No, I think the subjects are very boring. I think translation is a practical work, however, those subjects are too theoretical. I have learned a lot of theories from famous translators in history, but I do not have the chance to do some practical work in the class. So I think these subjects are very boring. 5) (Possibly) Are you looking forward to working?Yes, I am. I want to put the theories have learned from class into practice. Furthermore, I want to earn the money to relieve my parent’s burden, they have spent too much money and time on me since my birth, I really want to support the whole family by myself. No, I am not. After working, I have to face the pressure of supporting the family, buying a house or a car. I prefer to study in the morning. As an old saying goes: “Morning hours are the best time of the day to work.” In the morning, I can memorize things efficiently and I won’t feel sleepy as well. So I prefer to study in the morning.

No, I can only live there for three years, so after graduation I have to move out. I think I will miss my dormitory since I have spent the most precious years of my life there.

6) (If you answer you haven’t lived there long) what’s the difference between where you are living now where you have lived in the past?Now, I am living in the dormitory with my roommates, so I can not do whatever I like in this flat, I have to consider my roommates’ feelings before doing something. I spent my life with my family in the past when I could do something freely.So, I think there is a big difference between my life now the past. 7) Can you describe the place where you live?Now, I am living in the dormitory of my school. Actually it is a flat in a tall building and I live on the second floor. The dormitory is beautifully decorated. I live in this flat with three friendly roommates. Moreover, my school is very far from the city center since it is located in the suburbs, but the transportation is very convenient because the subway and bus stations are just near the school

gate. 8) Which room does your family spend most of the time in?

My family spend most of the time in the living room. I live with a big family, including my parents, my grandparents, my brother, my sister. After dinner, the whole family always get together in the living room and talk about a day’s life. We all feel cozy in the warm family

9) What do you usually do in your house/flat/room? During the weekdays, I always study, do some research and prepare for my paper. However, during the weekends, since it is the time to relax, I always watch the film or sleep.

10) Are the transport facilities to your home very good?

Yes, my home is in the city center, so the transport is really convenient. It is only about two minutes’ walk to the bus station and the subway station. Moreover, it is also very easy to call a taxi. 11) Do you prefer living in a house or flat?

I prefer living in a house. I live with my whole family, including my parents, my grandparents, my brother and my sister. So we need at least five bedrooms.
