The Great Gatsby provides a critical social phenomenon of America during the Roaring Twenties and it plays an important role in literature history.

Nick is addicted to Gatsby, he would listen to him and stands by him all the time. Even when Gatsby wants to meet with Daisy, Nick still do a favor to help him. But meeting a series of things happen between them, Nick finally find that Gatsby just a bootlegger instead of a Nobel upper person. Although Nick feels a little disappointment about his soul leader, he still tries his best to deal with his funeral. In the end, Nick goes back to his hometown, living a emptiness and lonely life. Nick goes through the life of upper class and witnesses the character of those golden people. So the changing process of his heart also shows the theme. The author wants to express the special topic about the development in America. He notices the young struggling for the wealth and freedom, finally losing all the courage at all. This is also called the Noise era.

Just as Wiki mentions that When Nick, Jordan, and Tom drive through the valley of ashes on their way home, they discover that Gatsby's car has struck and killed Tom's mistress, Myrtle. Nick later learns from Gatsby that Daisy, not Gatsby himself, was driving the car at the time of the accident but Gatsby intends to take the blame anyway. Myrtle's husband, George, falsely concludes that the driver of the
yellow car is the secret lover he recently began suspecting she has, and sets out on foot to locate its owner. After finding out the yellow car is Gatsby's, he arrives at Gatsby's mansion where he fatally shoots both Gatsby and then himself. Nick stages an unfeelingly small funeral for Gatsby, ends his relationship with Jordan, and moves back to the Midwest, disillusioned with the Eastern lifestyle. It also means the American dream is consisted of wealth and freedom. And as for the Gatsby, American dream is money and Daisy, so he spends all his life to pursue the two important things. Because of the low status in the society, he loses his lover Daisy and just lets her marry another best man Tom painfully. When Daisy and Tom was on the honeymoon trip, Gatsby is serving in the army. So he decides to change to be a success in the upper class to get all the things back.
In the last of whole passage, Gatsby turn out all right in the end stands for that he is the special person to Nick. And in Nick’s minds, Gatsby is most intelligent and wisest people in the world. The author also mentioned, ‘So we beat on, boats against the current, borne back ceaselessly into the past’ shows the current things about the cautionary tale of the decadent downside of the American dream. The Great Gatsby is a fascinating book and it has great influence to American society, the author uses special and meaningful words to express the themes to the later people.

也许每个人都和盖茨比一样对于生活，爱情心中都有一个美好的幻想。即使现实把自己折磨的残破不堪，也不会轻易放弃心中理想的世界。年轻时的盖茨比和黛茜深深相爱，但是自己贫寒的家境和养尊处优的黛茜门不当户不对，这样的现实让盖茨比心中的幻想第一次破灭。然而他并没有被现实打败，怀揣着对黛茜的爱和对理想憧憬，他发誓要成为百万富翁，满足物质女黛茜，以便和她长相厮守。但是一个人即使非常的优秀，万分的努力，也不大可能短时间成功。盖茨比的地位和财富，在黛茜结婚五年后才取得，黛茜和汤姆结了婚，她没有等他。

盖茨比，本书的主人公，有理想，肯努力，能忍受，敢爱不敢恨，总是将一切想象的过于美好，最终悲剧在自己的幻想世界中。不过我想他是成功的，因为直到死他似乎也没有意识到黛茜的背叛，带着对黛茜的爱离去，也算是美满。黛茜，一个典型的物质女，因为物质，放弃了自己的爱情。在物质的驱动下又将其重拾了起来。然后在犯罪的恐惧下又再次的放弃，完结了盖茨比的悲剧人生。不知道当来生再见到盖茨比，会是怎样的一种心情，她又会因为什么而再次爱上盖茨比，当然，如果有来生。
人必须要有梦想，它激励着我们步步向前，但是却不能活在“美梦”之中。
